kasihya: autopsied corpse of Will Graham from NBC's Hannibal (Default)
A couple of separate doodles in an alternate universe where somehow everyone from The End of Days ends up living together in the suburbs of Violet's Earth. This is, like the Supernatural fic, me getting out all of my domestic ~feelings~. Neither of these are anything like finished. Or even make sense. Whatever.

Tanwen — 20
Eirian — 23
Ƈhatma — 24
Kephri — 21
Marat — 12
Alanna — 32
Violet — 16
Andras — 4

Oh my god, how awesome would that be? Like, okay, there are all of these people, and I am super-tempted to write a short story about the alternate universe where the survivors from the End of Days hit the reset button and ~somehow~ end up all living together in a house in Gallows Hill? And then they all raise Andras and Marat together, or whatever, and all of these adventures because Andras is five now, and it’s a whole new ball game, explaining to your kid that now there’s a whole new world out there, with new rules, and whatnot, and they’re all going to have to live by them but it’s okay because he’ll have other kids to play with now! But he’s grown up with this one family, all speaking the same metaphorical language and playing by post-apocalyptic rules, so how well are they all going to make this adjustment?

Violet and Kephri would make a good duo. They're the least human of the lot, followed closely by Chatma and Alanna, who are at polar opposites of the 'abnormal' spectrum. Especially since Violet is a few years older in this one, and has grown into herself since the thing with Blade. Although right now she seems to be trying to become Blade, which is possibly extremely unhealthy and indicative of things being wrong with her in different ways than when she was thirteen.

Whoops!

kasihya: autopsied corpse of Will Graham from NBC's Hannibal (d'sezan)
I just discovered that I've been giving Quentin Gallivan an extra 'g' in his last name. Um ... oops? Sorry, bro.

Prompt: Itch
POV Character: Clark Masters
Date: pre-Event Horizon
Summary: Everyone needs a hobby
Sometimes, being evil in the ordinary course of things wasn't enough for Clark. He'd send out men to commit pointless murders; he'd cause power outages to blanket the city for days at a time, except on his block. More than the usual amount of evil. Occasionally, it would work, and Clark could go on with his life, secure in the knowledge that he'd done what he could to make the world a little more hellish. But when that wasn't enough, he would head to the local grocery store, give Trevor the night off, and cook dinner for himself and Carmela.

I've been slacking on these lately, but since I've been making progress on my other major piece of writing, I'm all right with that.

18. Summer Love )

Doing my best to keep all focus away from Jack and Neil's relationship. I know about that already; I don't know about random summer flings or scarring childhood incidents.

16. Umbrella )

(Favorite for this set is Neil's. I think Karthik's is a bit lackluster, and Evangeline's is too complicated. I sugarcoat her too much.)

9. Wander )

10. Rain )

(Feathered Justice is a parakeet I adopted from the NaNoWriMo Adopt-a-Superhero forum. She is the Badass Normal Semprevivo of birds.)

I am on a roll with these!
EDIT: Two more, and then I'm going to go read A Wizard of Mars.

11. Blue Skies )

12. Lazy )

I realized that I'm inordinately fond of practically all of my characters. I have very few towards whom I am either indifferent, or actively dislike. It's just easier for me to write people I like, even if they're not likable people. Like Sambiya ... awful person, great character. And even characters I set out not to like, like Stephen, end up being endearing. Mostly, I think, because Stephen is part Rock Lee, and I adore Rock Lee like no other. He's also part Mr. Incredible ...

(This was a fun one to write. I interpreted the prompt all metaphorically, did you see that? Aren't I clever? :P)

I am not happy with what the word limit did to #8.

Prompt: Dust
POV Character: Quentin
Date: Summer, 5157
Summary: Quentin Galligan discovers his magic.
There is a fine layer of brown powder on Quentin's right side, stirred up by a series of cars passing him on the dirt road. He examines it, the way it tans his pale skin. As he does so, something opens up, expands, inside his mind. He later describes it as the feeling of suddenly gaining a new limb and set of muscles. Startled, he prods the hitherto undiscovered part of his mind, and feels his skin tingle in response. When he blinks again, the dust pales — or, rather, the skin on which it lies has become dark like mahogany.

Prompt: Festival
POV Character: Stephen
Date: Spring Equinox, 5171
Summary: Stephen gate-crashes the spring equinox festival in Lannael.
A trio of deplorably unwashed children stares at the fine figure of a man who has plummeted down from the sky in a whirlwind before them.
'Greetings! I am the mighty, the magnificent Blue Rose!' Stephen announces.
The tallest girl tilts her head. 'ダレ?' She can't be more than nine.
Stephen beams fondly. 'Ah, foreigners!' He reaches into his fanny pack and pulls out three of his eponymous blue roses, handing them to each child with a flourish. He is rewarded by three shy, gap-toothed smiles, and feels a bubble of happiness rise in his (broad, manly) chest.

Some background information on the characters, so that the drabbles will make some sort of sense.

About This Story
D'Sezan is a city in a country not unlike England in climate and advancement, although it's probably around 2000 as far as technology is concerned. In this world, magic takes the form of ghostly 'alma' that enter the soul anywhere between the ages of five and fifteen, give or take a few years, bestowing upon the recipient magical gifts. These gifts are dependent upon the natural inclination of the particular alma, and the temperament of the person in whom they reside.
