Date: Fall 5160 (Age 18)
Summary: Reed befriends Stephen
There's always that one, the guy who bounces from clique to clique and doesn't manage to stay in any of them. Sometimes a sociopath, sometimes a liar, but usually just irritating. It was a given that he would eventually come to her for friendship.
Reed doesn't have a clique, and she doesn't have anything against Stephen. He is loud, and grating, and friendless as a result. She remembers the lonely suicidal girl in high school. So she grits her teeth and puts up with his expansiveness, so that when he finally pops and deflates, he'll have her as an anchor.

Summary: Why Evangeline joined QUARK
Evangeline is having a picnic with her boyfriend on the edge of the Galmuck River, just off Atherton Road. Something floats down the river, a dark blob with a stick poking out of it. Evangeline jogs down to the marshy waterfront. She gags when the blob comes closer and she realizes it's a body, clothing stained red around the knife in its back.
Evangeline bites her lip. She'd always distantly assumed someone else would take care of things. But this is immediate: this is what she is here to stop.
That night, she fills out an application to the Academy.
