kasihya: autopsied corpse of Will Graham from NBC's Hannibal (willow)
[personal profile] kasihya
I want to write a short one-shot story for Valentine’s Day. I think it might consist of Willow, Riley, Electra, and Vance on a group date in which no one is really actually dating anyone else. (My original idea was to have Violet, my favorite genderfluid eldritch abomination, take Tsuya and Nyali on a mission to murder Cupid because Violet's human Kai is behaving weirdly around this one girl in his class. That tanked pretty quickly because things like that amuse me to imagine, but don't work out so well on paper for me. Gotta work on that.)

Inasmuch as the quartet have a canon, I think I’ve pretty well established their relationships as such:

Vance is closest to Electra, then Willow, then Riley. He depends heavily on Electra and Willow for emotional support, but he and Willow spend more time sitting together in supportive silence than he does with Electra. He and Riley aren’t close in quite the same way, because Vance is a little jealous of the relationship that he has with Electra.

Riley and Electra have a gossipy, close friendship. They describe themselves as gay best friends, which is, yes, kind of offensive.

Willow and Electra have a similar kind of relationship, but without quite as much high-saturated shenanigans. They also have a mutual drive to do well academically that they don’t share with Riley.

Willow and Riley have a relationship that is a combination of pretending they’re siblings and pretending that they’re dating.

So out of all of them, Will and Riley, Riley and Electra, Vance and Electra, Electra and Willow … they have all been mistaken as being a couple. Basically Electra with everyone, plus Riley and Willow because they flirt with each other (Or, Riley flirts with Willow, who gets embarrassed when he tries to be suave and trips over his own tongue.)

These four are my first 'real' characters, the ones who rose up off the page and started having complicated, flawed existences. All except for Vance. Vance was the character who had a bipolar-type disorder before I knew what bipolar was. And so for a few years his personality was nothing but bipolar. He's better now. But they kept me company when I was in the hellish stage of my life that was freshman year of high school.
