Feb. 11th, 2012 05:42 pmOKAY. I ended up writing an essay for Columbia about how much I love Game of Thrones and how it hits an improbably number of my storytelling kinks, and inspires me to improve my writing and not give up. And then another essay was a love letter to my Medieval Monsters class. The third was about how writing is the best part of anthropology, and then I submitted This Is Not the End as a writing supplement, which I love like it's my bratty teenage daughter.
Haven't gotten much done today writing-wise, but I'm looking forwards to doing that after dinner. Attempting to choreograph an in-character fight scene, which is harder than it sounds. The only one I've written so far in my life has been between two homeless boys and a full-grown man, which is very different from two men not used to fighting, and both of those are only related to the style of karate I practice inasmuch as they both involve physical contact with intent to incapacitate. Sparring matches in which the idea is to not actually break your opponents anything are not the same as real life, where all of those nasty knee-breaking kicks and throat punches that you shouldn't use on your friends during practice? Totally cool.
I miss karate so much. I miss being allowed to exercise. (once I go home and get my inhaler, I am back in business. All gym, all the time.)
