Moving right along! I'll probably combine smaller fandoms into one post.
After Me Comes the Flood by Aria
(Doctor/Master) A more exploratory, different version of The Return of the Time Lords, or whatever Ten's last proper story was.
Amelia and the Giant Gobstopper by Lost Spook
(Gen) Amelia Pond meets another strange man with a box who wants to talk about food.
And I Must Scream by Starling-Night
Eleven locked in the Pandorica, going crazy, and one of the few stories where the narration of madness is also written well. And the last line is so, so creepy.
Answering Noises In The Night by BlackEyedGirl
(Rory/Amy/Eleven-ish) Conversations about bunk beds which are actually about love. Rory/Amy + Eleven, and this is exactly the sort of relationship that I imagine them having.
As I Always Say by threeguesses
Ms. Frizzle is a Time Lady and she occasionally meets Time Lady Mary Poppins and she is FABULOUS and this is so. SO. It's so much, it's got so much muchiness.
Boxing Day by lyricswritesprose
Wilf meets Eleven in a bar on the anniversary of Ten's death. I really like the way that the Doctor explains regeneration, and why some aspects of his personality remained, and why some of them changed, from Ten to Eleven.
But Rather Darkness Visible by Ashura
(Ten) Doctor Who crossover with Young Wizards. Dairine and Ten have a talk, and *flaily-hands* Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Cantus Nobilis by x-Avarice-x (to-read)
Crazy In Love by shaggydogtales
(Doctor/Master) The one where the Master unhinges the Doctor by pretending to be in love with him ... and just when it looks like it's going to be unrealistically soppy, it doesn't have a happy ending.
Crossed Wires by WynterEyez
(10.2/Rose) It's important to remember that 10.5 is a combo of the Doctor and Donna, not just a human version of the Doctor ... featuring the Metacrisis in drag.
Curious by afterism
(Eleven/Amy/Vincent) Eleven and Amy and Vincent van Gogh. Aiyk. I wouldn't say this is out of this world fabulous, but it made my emotions go ayik so there's that.
Detectives, Adventurers, and Girls Who Don't Wait Around by lizbee
(7x05 coda) "Foreword to the 2012 edition of The Raggedy Man" This one made me all emotional in the way that stories do when they get BIG and beautiful.
Diary of the TARDIS by honorh
(Gen) "So, what was the TARDIS thinking during "The Eleventh Hour"?" This is probably my least favorite fic by this author, and that's entirely a personal matter, not a comment on the story. The story is great.
Familiar Grounds by pocketmouse (to-read)
(Eleven/Amy/Rory) Long fic and case-fic.
The Game by Vic Taylor
(Doctor+Master) "For you to really know what the Doctor and the Master have, you have to know their history. They grew up on a planet far away. The system name isn't important, and neither is the planet name. They're long gone, buried in time."
The Girl Who Waited Replies by BlackEyedGirl
Do I enjoy fic-meta that points out the problematic/stupid elements of my favorite show? Yes I do. This is my headcanon for what happens to Amy after The God Complex.
happily (not) ever after by honorh
(Rose/Nine/Jack) It's fluff. That's all that matters.
Happy Hour by karaokegirl
Pundit RPF/Doctor Who crossover in which Rachel Maddow tracks down the Doctor, Historical and Political Man of Mystery! Monumental squeeing was had towards the end, and the author writes really well.
help me, hypervodkas, you're my only hope (the wishlist remix) by such_heights
(Amy/Rory/Jack) "The last time I was sentenced to death, I ordered four hypervodkas for my breakfast. All a bit of a blur after that. I woke up in bed with both of my executioners." In which Amy and Rory meet Captain Jack Harkness. CACKLING with laughter.
here (in your arms) by such_heights
(Gen) Amy and the Doctor being adorable at Rory. Total fuzzyfic
how someone could have chosen by alpacas
(7x05 coda) This is the fix-it fic of my heart after The Angels Take Manhattan. It is beautiful without taking away any of the angst of the episode.
In An Interstellar Burst by such_heights
I have a feeling that half of this list is by such_heights but I like basically everything they write. "Donna's got a teleport, Rose has an aversion to beaches, and maybe Martha's not quite as done with all of this as she thought. Next stop: everywhere." EEE!
Invisible Road by lyricswritesprose
A bedtime story along the same lines as They Say
Letting Go by honorh
Eleven says goodbye to Ten's companions, in a way that is quiet and much less melodramatic than Ten's farewell tour.
Like A Name In A Fairytale by bendingwind
(7x05 coda) Another take on Rory and Amy raising Melody. Very short.
Man-Whores and Wealthy Women by honorh
(Rose/Nine/Jack) I can't adequately summarize this, but basically, Jack and the Doctor get themselves captured in an Amazon-like society, where they are sold as concubines. It's up to Rose to rescue them. The result is hilarious, adorable, and utterly whacked. I LOVE it.
Masterchef by JJPOR
(Doctor/Master-ish) The Master's various regenerations team up to bake the Doctor a birthday cake. Delightful, delightful crack, is what it is.
Night Terrors by lyricswritesprose
The Doctor teaches Rory to use weaponized PTSD. Several "that's so cool!" moments, though I haven't read it more than once.
Ordinary Hero by eriphi
Case-fic. The Doctor turns into a gibbering idiot on a planet that's supposed to be harmless to him, and Rory ends up having to save him and Amy. This was written before S6, which had, on the whole, too much of Amy needing to be saved, so this was before it got old. I still like this because it's funny.
Paleolinguistics by Astrogirl
(Doctor/Master) Doctor Who + slash linguistics. 200 words
Passing Notes by Adalia Zandra
(Doctor/Master) The Doctor and the Master write ridiculous messages to each other on sticky notes, which do come included in the story.
People Used to Dream About the Future by Calapine (to-read)
"The world ended sometime in March 2006. This is, of course, a lie. Just like everything else in this story. Nobody bothered to tell the Doctor, Jack or Rose though."
ROPE by kalima
In which Five is scary without ever being anything more than mild-mannered and cheerful. It's great.
Season Four by Aria
(Doctor/Master) "An alternate Doctor Who season four. In which the Doctor and the Master have dysfunctional adventures in time and space, Martha becomes a fully qualified doctor, Leo Jones wonders what all the fuss is about, the Torchwood team recounts Himalayan hijinks, and Lucy Saxon refuses to let the averted end of the world sideline her." This is one of the first Doctor Who fics I read. It's great. Some parts are better than others, and all read like episodes of Doctor Who. My favorite is I think part eight, or whichever one has Harold Saxon and Ten keeping house in Ireland.
Seventeen Things That Happened to Rory Williams, After by Scribe
(Eleven/Rory) Okay, so. Amy dies and Rory continues traveling with the Doctor. This is not my thing at all, because I love Amy and I do not ship Rory with anyone unless Amy is involved, and yet. I like grief, and this story does that well, and it's heavy on how important Amy is to Rory, rather than some sort of horrible "kill off the girl to pair the guys" fic.
Tea Time and Time Lords: A Primer by blithers
(Community/Doctor Who) The Greendale Seven in the TARDIS with Ten. It hits so many different notes, and does so much in 5K words that it's startling. It's good, is what it is.
They Came to Norway to Eat Our Brains by Doyle (to-read)
"Very late backup for the available_very ficathon for honorh who wanted a reunion between Rose and Jack in Pete’s world, Mickey, yorkie!Rose, no Doctor and no angst."
They Say by Lyricswritesprose
Earth is protected.
Time v.3.0 by Teyke
"It has been suggested that after his eighth regeneration, the Doctor begins lying about his age. The official explanation is that he has simply lost track. This is a third possible explanation for the discrepancy between his ages in the new and old series." Creepy doesn't even begin to cover it. All of the "abominations" that the Doctor namedrops in the new series get expanded upon, and it's just as horrifying in the light of day as it is in the dark. The end is gut-wrenching and I had to remind myself that these are all fictional characters.
