kasihya: autopsied corpse of Will Graham from NBC's Hannibal (revolutionary)

I want to write a modern-day AU now!

But how to solve the problem of Tanwen, Aisa, Reian, and Naike?

Or. They all share a house together, in two couples. Even though I want a triad. But I'm not sure how Naike would fit into that, and besides which, Tanwen and Naike are my favorite couple ever, with Naike calling Tanwen 'Neri' and Tanwen being protective and ordering food for him when he forgets to eat.

I'm thrilled by Tanwen and Naike's marriage and how domestic they get so quickly.

Oh well. Aisa and Reiesamon, living with Tanwen and Naike. Aisa and Reian were childhood best friends, until Aisa was sent to boarding school for high school because his family was rich. Reiesamon met Tanwen when she moved next door with Agioren, Vadha, and Chigoto. In this version, Aisa and Reiesamon are in their early to mid thirties; Tanwen and Naike are 26 and 27. Oh! Reiesamon used to babysit Tanwen and Agioren when they were younger.

This quartet of adults live with Enna, age 16, who is Aisa's younger cousin suffering from crippling shyness and manic depression; Aisa and Reiesamon are his guardians after rescuing him from an abusive household. Aisa and Reiesamon are in the military, currently discharged, which is where they reconnected and got together.

Nyali and Tsuya are 15 years old and homeless children who live in an apartment in the city, until they're put into foster care. They live with a few other people, which gives them an address so that they can go to public school. They'd just have to be really careful — this would be where Nyali would come in, keeping Tsuya out of trouble. And for his part, Tsuya would make it clear that anyone who messed with Nyali, who is odd and effeminate and academic, would get the living crap beat out of them.

Except that then one winter, Tsuya got really sick, and Nyali tried to bring him to the school nurse because they really have no other options — it's not like any of them can afford health care or a doctor's visit. She reported them to child protection services. Nyali is taken in by Aisa and Reiesamon, while in the suburbs, the Nantsenhat adopt Tsuya. Or, even better, they live on a farm; they've since moved out to live with the rest of their extended family (the rest of the caravan, in canon.)

Tanwen is the daughter of a wealthy whoever from a previous marriage to Chigoto. She had no children save Tanwen, so a lot of money befell Tanwen when her mother died under mysterious circumstances.

And Sambiya is a wealthy sociopath with negligent parents who attends the same high school as Nyali now does.

During their time living outside the law, Nyali insisted on dragging Tsuya to school so that they'd be able to graduate with grades good enough to get them scholarships to community college. That way they'd have a chance for getting a job.

Enna is extremely socially awkward, as well as being manic depressive. He does theater and studies classics on his own, as his outlet. He has no friends, but he's the kind of weird that people just leave alone because you get the impression that it wouldn't take a whole lot to push him over the edge, and you don't want to be on his hit list when he comes to school with a gun. This is not the case, and he's too passive for his own good, but he still gets left alone for the most part.

Tsuya and Nyali have never had time to develop interests; they've always been at school, then working — Tsuya at a grocery store, Nyali at the library. They've both been working since they were 14; and before that, for about five months, Tsuya was a newspaper boy. They'd also depend on the local food pantry to provide for their 'family' once they left home: it was them, Nambi (19 – 21 years old and a waitress), Kasib (22 – 24 years old, Wal-Mart employee) and Sazaet (15 – 17 years old, works as a cashier as well) in a one-bedroom apartment with a double bed and a couch for sleeping.

This version of Nyali meeting this version of Sambiya … I cannot foresee it being anything but disastrous for both parties.

Oh yeah, I'd have to give them names befitting Vespucci … my bad.
