Yuletide Letter!

Dear Yuletide Author,

Hello! Thank you so very much for volunteering to write a story for me! I’ll go into what I would like for whichever fandom you choose to write, but here are some general things I like to read: I very much enjoy ship fics, OT3s, found-family fics, and stories about friendship in general. ALL the relationships! If you’re going to write slash, I would prefer that people keep their clothes on? Domestic stories are my absolute favorite, for whatever value of domestic fits the characters. If fluff and happy things are not your cup of tea, then I would also appreciate angsty/creepy things! I’m especially fond of stories about characters dealing with the aftermath of some cataclysmic tragedy: the death of another character, a long imprisonment, takeover of the world by hostile aliens, you name it. Learning to deal with tragedy and picking up the pieces is good. I don't know that any of this specifically applies to my fandoms below, but that is a general idea of what I gravitate towards. For the fandoms, I wrote about what elements of the stories are most interesting to me, to give you a more specific idea.

EDIT: This is my first time doing Yuletide, and I just saw the Yuletide Admin post that says you need to include every character requested, unless otherwise specified? [link] I am specifying otherwise. For YW, any combination of the characters is cool, with as few or as many as you want. If you are writing Community fic, then I'd prefer not to see Jeff as the only focus character, but other than that, again, no need to include everyone.

Robin Hood:

One of the things that fascinates me about the early Robin Hood ballads, especially A Gest of Robyn Hode, is the relationship between Robin Hood and Little John. They have a relationship that is nominally lord/vassal, but Robin ends up depending on Little John, who is sometimes a better leader than him, and Little John does pull through for him, and the power dynamic there is complicated. So I would love to read your thoughts on that! I have no preference for slash or gen. If you don’t feel like writing about that, then I’d still be happy with anything you care to write about in that universe; I think the Robin Hood stories as a whole are great.

Young Wizards:

My favorite relationship in this series is Dairine and Roshaun. (My favorite relationship in any series is Dairine&Roshaun.) This is one thing I would really prefer to not be outright ship fic, because one thing that makes their relationship so great is the fact that it can't be pinned down by something as simple as romantic feelings. It’d be awesome to see your version of Dairine finding Roshaun, and how they both react to that; how their relationship develops afterwards; any interactions with either of their parents as a duo after the fact; etc. I’m also on board with anything Nita/Kit related, or Nita&Kit; how they go about trying to date after A Wizard of Mars would be lovely. Or! Back in Deep Wizardry/High Wizardry, Kit’s reaction to Nita’s crush on him. Basically, for this series, my primary love (aside from the aliens and magic, of course) is the characters, and the relationships they have with each other, and anything you can give me that deals with that in a thoughtful way will make me happy.

Hebrew Bible:

I have a slightly more specific request for this, and that is: AUs! Space Opera, genderbends, crossover with other mythologies, time displacement, geographic displacement, Lovecraftian, film noir, whatever floats your boat. Moses, Noah, or Joseph and his family would be my preferred focus people, but anything — Jonah and the Space Whale! Balaam's Tauntaun! — would be fantastic. You may feel free to take liberties with the morals of the stories, or the outcomes, or to not. I just think that transposing them would be really neat.

Community:

My favorite thing about Community is the balance that the show maintains between sitcom situations and offbeat humor with serious commentaries on society and the basic humanity of all of the characters. One of the best examples of this balance is the Dean’s half-man, half-woman outfit in S3. It’s funny, because it’s a ridiculous outfit, but at the very end of the episode, he ends up having a great conversation with someone unexpected because of it. It doesn’t diminish the ridiculousness of his outfit, but the ridiculousness of his outfit doesn’t diminish the fact that he is a flawed human being who wants to be accepted.

I have a lot of feelings about the Dean. Stories about him would make my day. I’d love either Dean Pelton and Jeff in a story together —bouncing off of each other and flirting/Very Much Not Flirting because they are my ridiculous OTP, or butting heads and then walking away understanding/liking each other a little bit more (which I would be over the moon about) — or anything about Shirley. Something exploring her character, how she relates to the other members of the study group, how she has grown throughout the series, a day in the life … there just isn’t enough fic about Shirley, and I am really fond of her. Because it is Community, any and all genre spoofs of your choice will be eaten up with glee.

I think that is it for me! If you already have an idea for these fandoms that I haven't mentioned, you can certainly go in that direction. Don't feel confined! These are ideas about what I would most like to see, if you do not. Thank you again and in advance. :)
